Abbie Lim graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), majoring in Furniture Design in 2007.
During her studies in NAFA, she had won a Merit Award at the 3rd & 4th FLiP Challenge organized by Singapore Furniture Industries Council; Finalist at 3rd CDL Singapore Sculpture Award organized by City Developments Limited.
Upon her graduation, Abbie presented her first one-man show at the 2nd PLATFORM 2008, organized by Singapore Furniture Industries Council. The furniture collection ‘Sponge’ was awarded the Best Product Award at the international furniture fair. The ‘Sponge’ collection had also exhibited in the Zero Exhibition, Tokyo Designer’s Week 2008(Japan).
In 2009, Abbie became the last recipient of the Takashimaya – National Arts Council Scholarship which allowed her to pursue a Higher Diploma in Creative Design at Toyo Institute of Arts (Tokyo, Japan). In the same year, Abbie showcased ‘‘Flurry and friends’’, a collection of wool poufs, at the CUBE Exhibition, Tokyo Designer’s Week 2009(Japan).
With a keen interest in crafts, Abbie is glad that she had the opportunities of experiencing different types of handcrafting projects during her studies.
